The attack came hours before Israel’s new parliament was sworn in, with far-right lawmakers expected to join the cabinet vowing to end the violence.

The Israeli army reported that a “stabbing attack” took place in the industrial area of ​​Ariel in the northern West Bank.

“A terrorist came to the gate of the area and stabbed a civilian who was there,” said a statement from the army.

Israel’s Magen David Adom Emergency Service said that a 35-year-old man died from his injuries, while three other people who were stabbed were injured, one of them seriously.

The person who launched the attack then went to “a gas station and stabbed other people,” according to the police, adding that he then stole a car and fled.

“He ran away with a car he stole and then ran over a civilian,” the army statement said.

The emergency teams said that a 50-year-old man died in the car that was run over.

The police added that a soldier later killed the person who launched the attack, and they are looking for a second person suspected of being involved in the attack.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that the Palestinian who was shot by the Israeli forces was named Mohammed Souf, who was 18 years old, and did not provide further details.
