CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE AND SOMALIA

CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE AND SOMALIA

The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, more commonly referred to as Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, or COP27.

IPCC) considers Africa to be the most vulnerable continent to the effects of climate change. More than 100 million Africans will in fact be threatened by global warming between now and 2030. Thus many States, NGOs and African commentators hope that the holding of this summit in an African country will improve the visibility of the priority demands of civil society and African States, in particular the compensation of developing countries for the consequences of global warming.

One of the most important indication of climate change in Somalia is the cutting of trees. Between 2001 and 2021, Somalia lost 429,000 hectares of tree cover, the equivalent to a 4.9% decrease in tree cover in almost the same period, and to creating 840,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.

Somalia’s economy greatly depends on its natural capital: land, rivers, forest, sub-soil assets, and marine resources of fish.

But, as of June 2022, three consecutive rainy seasons r had failed, a climatic event not seen in the last 40 years in Somalia. Multiple areas of Somalia face the risk of famine  amid this exceptionally severe drought, soaring staple food prices, and the death of about 30% of Somali livestock since mid-2021.

Hassan Sheikh and his envoy Abdirahman Abdi Shakur are in Sharm el Sheikh to listen to how they are contributing in CO2 emission by allowing the regional president of Jubaland Emir Ahmed Madobe to have de forested over 500 km of land by creating a semi arid dessert that didn’t exist in Somalia’s geography, Jubalan was the fundamental agricultural state in Somalia 35% of Somalias tropical vegetation use to come from this state, unfortunataly the burning of trees has constituted in charcoal exportation for the last 13 years under the Emir Ahmed Madoobe. The previous government halted as much as it could by shutting the regions space in both air & sea, but unfortunately Kenya didn’t respect the sovreignity of Somalia and helped in the business as one of the benificeries of Jubaland region.

Al Shabaab’s main income appears to be from charcoal, and taxing of other commodities, as well as possibly ex-pat finance. At a single roadblock they have been able to make up to USD 8–18 million per year for taxing passing charcoal traffic in Badhaadhe District, Lower Juba Region. Al Shabaab retains about one third of the income, which alone constitutes about USD 38–56 million. The overall size of the illicit charcoal export from Somalia has been estimated at USD 360–384 million per year. Data for 2013.

Consequently, the trade in charcoal has accelerated threats such as environmental degradation and conflict over the control of resultant revenue. Despite a 2012 UN Security Council ban on importing Somalia’s charcoal, the trade has continued apace: the market value of the exported commodity was estimated to be more than $250 million dollars over the two years following the ban.

Conclusion: The fragile country is spearheaded by the UN in both devolopment, politically, elections and NGO. It seems none of the above do not fanction as long as they are fixing the elections by aiding in coup de etat like the last parliamentary elections & presidential elections, they stole the will of the Somalis all over the world which finally got a reliable transparent government, free from corruption and were certified by IMF,WORLD BANK and other institutions.
The UN headed by James Swan together with the US, UK and European contributed in bringing down this government and replacing with a corrupt bubbet man who was tested before as one the most clanish, corrupt president in Somalias history “HASSAN SHEIKH” he and his envoy are sitting today in the climate convention hoping to get aid to reduce the CO2, this convention is for those countries that have industries producing and exporting to Eyrope and elsewhere, the meeting is to aid these countries in changing the old habit and up dating them to new methods to reduce the CO2 EMISSION and give incentives to change the old habit by moderising to solar and other means of new technllogy.
Now where do we fit in this convention? Nowhere because Hassan Sheikh and Amir Avmed Madobe are part of thd problem not the solution. Mafobe exports skibs and loads of charcoal by cutting and burning trees .
Hassan Sheikh just outorised devils deal by  signing a petroleum exploration agreement for seven offshore blocks with United States-based Coastline Exploration, without producing evidence of the deal and the up most one “MARINE PROTECTION” so you cant come and beg for money when you torch your own land.

Hassan Sheikh and his corrupt public officers are not fit to lead Somalia ghat has suffered 32 years of clanish anarchy, terrorism, corruption of looting public proberty, these menaces should be behind bars not public figures in public offices.

Be with a leader when he is right, stay with him when he is still right, but leave him when he is wrong.
It is time. Act now before it is too late.
