Mogadishu, November 07, 2022; The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, attended the opening of the International Conference on Climate Change (COP27) which opened today in the city of Sharma Sheikh in Egypt.
The President held meetings with the Presidents of Djibouti, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelle, Mr. Abdulmajid Tamoun of Algeria, Mr. William Ruto of Kenya, Mr. Mohamed Binu Said of the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Évariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi, Prime Minister of Ethiopia Mr. Abiy Ahmed and The Prime Minister of Finland Mrs. Sanna Marin.
The President of the Republic and the Somali climate experts accompanying the COP-27 Conference shared with the world leaders, the strong impact of climate change on the lives of the Somali people and the Government’s plans to support drought, erosion and floods as one of the effects of climate change. .
