KAMPALA —Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Saturday lifted all restrictions related to Ebola, saying that the country in East Africa has made progress in controlling the deadly disease.
Museveni lifted the ban on the epicenter of the disease in Mubende district, which has recorded 66 cases and 29 deaths, and Kassanda region, which has 49 cases and 21 deaths.
“Now, there is no transmission, no contact, no patient in quarantine facilities,” Museveni said in a statement.
In October, the Kampala government imposed travel restrictions and a night curfew, and also closed places of worship and entertainment.
Earlier this month, Uganda said it had discharged its last Ebola patient from health facilities.
