Raila Odinga, the veteran opposition leader who narrowly won the August election, criticized Ruto’s move against members of the opposition.

“They (Ruto’s government) have started a plan to remove the four people who stand for justice,” Odinga said on Friday, accusing Ruto of trying to take over the administration in the next election.

“They want to appoint members of the committee to carry out their fraud in 2027,” said Odinga who vowed to hold public rallies to consult with Kenyans on the next steps.

The first demonstration will take place in Nairobi in December. 7, while the second one will be held in December. On the 12th, Ruto’s office did not immediately respond to Reuters inquiries about the allegation, One of this committee, Justus Nyang’aya, said he resigned, according to local media.

The four members held a press conference in parallel with the chairman of the election commission in August. On the 15th, they said that they could not be part of the results that were announced live on television by the chairman and two other members.

The dispute went to the Supreme Court, which upheld Ruto’s election, and rejected the argument presented by the four members regarding the method of counting the votes.
